PHIL MINTON (UK)/AUDREY CHEN (US/CN) DUO & TRIO ft. ROBERT VAN HEUMEN + DUKE GARWOOD (UK) + WILBERT DE JOODE SOLO
Audrey Chen & Phil Minton: voices & Robert van Heumen: electronics
With primary focus on the interplay between the uttered sounds of the mouth and vocal chords, Minton and Chen plumb the depths of their most inherent and bodily instruments. Their improvisations are fearless, fragile, hungry, passionate, riotous, ululating and animalistic, yet are also in all respects, human. They express, pronounce and intensely articulate (in their fashion) the many nuanced shades of their individual and collaborative conditions.
They have been performing as a duo for the past several years with concerts/tours in Europe, the US, China and now in Brazil. Their duo album, By the Stream, was released by SUBROSA earlier this year.

Duke Garwood: guitar and vocals
In May 2013, Mark Lanegan & Duke Garwood are set to release their first studio collaboration, 'Black Pudding'. Lanegan and Garwood met in 2009 while playing on the same bill and Garwood was again a frequent opener on Lanegan's recent European tours and played guitar on 2 tracks on Lanegan's 'Blues Funeral' album. "Duke Garwood is one of my all time favorite artists," said Lanegan. "Working with him has been one of the best experiences of my recording life."
Garwood has often been described in the press as Lanegan's "spiritual cousin across the Atlantic waters." He has been widely praised as a master bluesman, with The Quietus saying "The combination of Garwood's murmured vocals and the sound he gets out of his guitar - which ranges from a rolling, loose finger-picking to shuddering howls of feedback - has a hypnotic effect" and The Mirror dubbing him as "London's leading exponent of the wheezy broke-down blues."
Wilbert de Joode (1955) is a veritable research scientist of bass pizzicato and bowing techniques. A self-taught musician, he has been playing the double-bass since 1982. He began working in groups that improvised within a jazz framework. Other musicians were soon drawn to his idiosyncratic style, and in the mid 80s he played in groups led by Vera Vingerhoeds, Armando Cairo and Ig Henneman where he further developed his improvisation skills. He came into contact with such musicians as J.C.Tans, Rinus Groeneveld, Michiel Braam, Han Bennink, Han Buhrs (Schismatics) and Ab Baars.
De Joode is currently one of the most active bass players on the European improvised music circuit. His individual style and musicality transforms the double bass into an equal partner in the most varied ensembles. A personal tone colour, exploration of the outer registers, quirky improvisations and the use of gut strings contribute to an instantly recognizable and intriguing sound.
The seventeen improvised pieces on his first solo cd Olo (distributed by ToonDist (www.toondist.nl ) show how rich and complex his sound on the double bass is.
“Wilbert does not play bass anymore… He has become his bass” (Ab Baars)

MASTER MUSICIANS OF BUKKAKE (US) + PRSZR (AT/PL)
Master Musicians of Bukkake began in the fertile music scene of the Pacific Northwest in 2003. Originally founded as a collective of musicians from the overflowing community in Seattle.
The Master Musicians of Bukkake take an earthly and shamanistic approach to these influences and infuse it with Krautrock pulses interweaved with acoustic guitars, intricately layered rhythms, hazed-out modular analog synths, brassy stabs, and cultish choirs. A true psychedelic, audiophile experience to dissolve your body in.
The Master Musicians of Bukkake are a group performing collective ceremonial music, far removed from category and pushing well beyond the “outsider” fashions of those willing to settle for less.
Master Musicians of Bukkake began in the fertile music scene of the Pacific Northwest in 2003. Originally founded as a collective of musicians from the overflowing community in Seattle featuring members of Earth, Burning Witch, Grails, The Accüsed, and Asva. Their 2009 album, Totem One (Conspiracy Records) was the band’s first record as part of a Northwest trilogy, marking an evolution from their first record Visible Sign of the Invisible Order (Abduction Records, 2005). Master Musicians of Bukkake has now solidified into a seven-piece cosmic psyche force.
Like a reverse dark side of the New Age sound, on the Totem series Master Musicians of Bukkake perform ritualistic electric excursions into the outer and inner reaches, relying on the electric power of psyched guitars, analog synth chants, and exotic heavy percussion. Totem One echos with the delusions of a West Coast death cult.

Prszr (pronounced “pressure”) is the duo of Rafal Iwanski (from acclaimed polish percussion duo HATI) and austrian electronic music veteran Pure combining the eerie, computer generated sound world of Pure with the archaic, outer-wordly spaceyness of Iwanski’s percussion play.
Multi-layered syncopating polyrhythms alternate with gong-based drones, both built on top of computer-generated loops and pulsating patterns. Melting acoustic with electronic aesthetics in a unique way PRSZR explores in their performances strategies for a highly hypnotic, cathartic sonic experience for the audience.
