Saturday OCCII

NOODLE BAR, 20:00-23:00. MONO-POLY is the founder of the noodlebar collective. They host a monthly modular event at Roodkapje in Rotterdam. He started collecting synthesizers in the late 90s and is a big modular fresk nowadays. Expect some on the fly patching tonight from your noodlecheff. From lush spacious sounds to dancing rhythmic stuff. Other artists part in de noodle bar: BORIS SCORPIO (rhythmical modulation/Wir War Soundsystem/Plattegrond Records), COLLOID (NL) (deep drones with uplifting arpeggios and cut up beats).

Takes place at the Smoke Gallery Upstairs at OCCII.

DJ GINGERMOON (NL)
This Scottish mermaid swam all the way to the Netherlands where she grew up in the small
coastal town of Zandvoort. Unable to talk she decided to let the music speak for her. Spinning records and mp3’s with a dark, romantic and sometimes humorous twist”

THE JULIE MITTENS (NL)
Dutch Free-Rock Trio that specializes in live improve, consisting of Martin Luiten (guitar), Michel van Dam (bass) and Leo Fabriek (drums). As starting point taking cues from free jazz and Japanese noise rock the group creates wild and unstructured improvisations, displaying advanced communication and speed of thought in terms of interplay.
An impressive assault of guitar noise.

DYLAN NYOUKIS (UK)
A former heavy metal kid, Dylan Nyoukis, is a noise expressionist and an experimentalist who explores improvisatory sounds (vocal and tape work) of nightmarish beauty. Plus he’s the  chief “talent sniffer” for Colour Out Of Space, Brighton’s annual festival of international experimental sound. Recently he worked with Thurston Moore, Jaap Blonk, Blood Stereo and Stefan Jaworzyn. Oh, and he also runs prolific DIY label Chocolate Monk since mid ‘90s.

PLATTETOZTI NOISE ORKEST
Improv – collaboration between two labels from Amsterdam, Plattegrond ( d.i.y – collective of producers & djs) and Toztizok Zounds (music, poetry, noise & improv). Artists part in the Orchestra: PQ (Electronix), Stephen Doyle (Drums), Semay Wu (Cello), Noiseinthenight(Cello), Caetano Carvalho, Dylan Nyoukis, Frank Vis.

EKOPLEKZ (UK)
Planting forests of reverbs and delays with his analog machine-friends, Nick Edwards, with his industrial lo-fi space loops and distorted dub experiments, is probably one of Bristol’s most daring and forward-thinking artists in the cities bass driven music scene. After releasing several albums and issuing several live tapes of shows from 2011, his 20 years experience are heard and felt once again on his brand new LP  “Unfidelity” on Planet Mu Records.

GΔRTMΔLEN (NL)
GΔRTMΔLEN impressed us so much last year, we thought they deserved a better spot. On Saturday, the OCCII will be transformed into their own private/collective ritual space, where they will display their unique blend of witch house and abstract expressionism. Heavy beats, haunting sounds, eerie vocals, estranging costumes: you’re in for quite the experience.

DJ BORIS BECKER
Maria Guggenbichler is an artist, curator, DJ, a funny woman, a laughing network, and a bunch of other hazy things. She tries to be based in Amsterdam, but hosts projects and events in Amsterdam and a lot of other places. Under her moniker DJ Boris Becker, Guggenbichler performs frequently within Amsterdam, at Club4REEL, Girls Like Us magazine and FATFORM parties; internationally at Kyselina™ parties at Kunstverein Munich and all over Europe.

IDEAL CORPUS (F)
Implanted in an explicitly internet-centered approach, the Ideal Corpus project articulates in a 3D paradisiac world where aquatic sounds and electropical tones mix in a music style they like to call Vega. Influences of kuduro, hip-hop and house are mixed into an explosive party by this French duo!

WTF! Hosted by DRAG QUEERS AMSTERDAM, 23:30-04:00. WTF creates safe queer space with a mixture of visual and performance artists, musicians, DJ’s  and local drag kings and queens. Every Wednesday brings a new theme and performance celebrating visible queer cultural diversity. Drink beer with queers Wednesday nights at Vrankrijk (Spuistraat 216).
