VILLAGERS OF IOANNINA CITY (gr)

After their sold-out show last Friday in DB’s Utrecht, Villagers of Ioannina City (V.I.C), the experimental psychedelic/rock band from Greece, are coming to Amsterdam now.

Their unique sound is a mix of post stoner rock with a big dose of greek-folk traditional music from Epirus. The region’s musical tradition is characterized by polyphony and the use of clarinet. The band’s sound fuses traditional music into modern psychedelic forms.

They formed in 2007 and since then they had played numerous shows all over the country, and some of them they were sold out in the biggest venues in Greece. Also they have performed in some of the major festivals in the country.

Their first full lenght album “RIZA” (Mantra Records – April 2014) enjoyed universal acceptance by critics and audiences, received lots of excellent reviews not only from Greece but from all over the world also, named by many as Album of the year. The limited Double Lps and CDs were immediate sold out.

Their last EP is “Zvara/Karakolia” (Mantra Records – Nov 2014)
