AN ARCHIVE TO DISAPPEAR

(Merel Raats | The Netherlands | 2024 | 12min)

Film Premiere. An experimental film made up of home videos of lesbians from the Netherlands in the 1990s. Disrupting the dominant heteronormative history that is constructed through archiving practices, it challenges institutional archiving not as a practice of constructing history, but as one of erasure. Through anarchiving with a lesbian gaze, Raats’ film explores personal desires in images of the past.

A GUIDE TO DANCE FOR ADULT CHILDREN

(Sadaf Biglari | Germany, Iran | 2024 | 14min)

It’s an experimental journey through the lens of VHS home movies, delving into childhood memories, highlighting dance not only as a tool of expression but also as a manifestation of existence. It plays around with imagination and fiction, reclaiming agency and power for seven-year-old Sadaf and her classmates.

DYKETACTICS

(Barbara Hammer | United States | 16mm | 1974 | 4min)

An avant-garde montage in A, B, C, and D rolls of kinaesthetic editing, and a pioneering exploration of lesbian identity and desire. Hammer counters the longstanding history of the male gaze upon women’s bodies through this imagery. Hammer’s seminal films of the 1970s broke new ground for the lesbian community.
