Cosmic jazz visionary Sun Ra lands on Earth in a music-powered spaceship, dressed like a futuristic pharaoh, to guide the Black community toward liberation on a utopian planet. Battling The Overseer, a satanic pimp-godfather, in a high-stakes poker game, Sun Ra’s mission blends absurdist sci-fi, searing social critique, and hypnotic concert footage of his Arkestra. Released in 1974, this cult classic is a cornerstone of Afrofuturism, where art and music transcend earthly oppression to imagine a radical new mythology.
