NETWORK AWESOME

Television is dead, long live television! Network Awesome uses the hidden and forgotten treasures of TV on YouTube and broadcasts 6 new shows a day, building a massive archive in the meantime. For this year’s festival, Network Awesome curated a special SOTU program, exploring the new avant-garde, underground (counter) culture, and basically all things SOTU. Sit back, sip a SOTU beer and spoil your eyes with awesomeness.

Takes place at the Smoke Gallery Upstairs at OCCII.

DATNAPOKU [DJ]

Widely known throughout the premium class of one man companies, design, precision and comfortable services with exclusive (pono) remixes. Put his record splicing chainsaw in everything that moves or stands still. Part of the game since the age of fourteen, skipping Tapes, spinning Vinyl and doing dishes at MKM! Nights at the OCCII. Happy and peppy to play again!

SIR RICHARD BISHOP (US)

Sir Richard Bishop is a composer and guitar player who was member of Sun City Girls.
Since 2005 he has been performing solo on guitar. In his music he combines traditional American folk music with gipsy, raga and Arabic influences and improvised music.
Besides his solo work he often works with guest musicians and is also part of Rangda together with Ben Chasny and Chris Corsano.

ASHLEY PAUL (US)

Ashley Paul is a performer and composer based in Brooklyn, New York. She uses an array of instruments including saxophone, clarinet, voice, guitar, bells and percussion, mixing disparate elements to create a colorful palette of sound that works its way into her intuitive songs; free forming, introverted melodies. This blend manifests beautiful and simple musical forms against acoustic experimentation.

FLOWER/CORSANO DUO (UK/US)

This power duo of Michael Flower and Chris Corsano will sure to blow you away with their improvised music that has traces of free jazz, noise and drone music. Corsano is a well known drummer in the improv scene who has worked with about everyone you can imagine, from Björk to Thurston Moore. Flower might be less known, but has earned his stripes as member of Vibracathedral Orchestra. In this duo he plays the Japanese Banjo “Shahi Baaja”.

DJ CHRIS MENIST (UK)

Chris Menist is always able to find a musical short-cut between the Caribbean, Africa and South-East Asia in his amazing sets of super rare vinyl mostly from the glorious 60’s and 70’s. Chris Menist is mostly being recognized for establishing the popular Paradise Bangkok parties in Thailand’s capital, bringing back to attention almost forgotten genres of Asian pop music from the 1960’s and 70es, as well as curating several albums for the respected reissue labels Soundway Records and Finders Keepers; ‘Sound of Siam’ (Soundway), ‘Thai?Dai!’ (Finders Keepers)
