H_U_T._ + TAUPE (SC) + BIG HARE
TAUPE (SC)
Taupe’s concoction of free(math)avant(skronk) shifts between sour sonics, effervescent improvisations and sludgy doom-laden riffs. This Glasgow-based trio wield an almost spooky telekinesis, veering into taut metronomic precision from turbulent & unwieldy chaos.
Ever-informed by a DIY ethos, there is a wonky charm to Taupe’s music, bridging the nostalgic no-wave disorder of DNA or James Chance with the squeaky-clean precision of contemporary groups like Goat (jp) or Horse Lords. Their performances rumble and pulse with a fun anarchic spirit which takes any pretensions or self-seriousness out to the woodshed.
It’s no wonder that their exhilarating sense of discovery has won them support from the likes of BBC 6 Music’s Freak Zone and BBC Radio 3’s Late Junction and Freeness, as well as appearances at festivals including REWIRE in the Hague and support slots with acts such as Deerhoof, Richard Dawson & Circle and Melt Banana.
Fizzing with ideas, Taupe prize surprise over all else.
H_U_T._ is an experimental music and artist collective based in Tilburg (NL). Inspired by the boundary-pushing spirit of the Fluxus movement, H_U_T._ embraces an open approach to artistic and musical freedom. Their work spans from weird-punk, art-rock, and happenings to noise, doom and improvisation. Think of bands such as Wire, Pharaoh Overlord, DEVO and Alice Coltrane.
Big Hare has always been trying to look beyond the bleakness of everyday life for the more magical, funny and spiritual insights. Their most recent album Sun House is a song collection for the solar cult they founded. Its key belief is that a hedonistic paradise lies ahead of us after the energy transition. In energetic live sets, these ideas are translated into solarcore hymns in which they communicate with dolphins and fantasize about solar powered space traveling. Visit solarcore.org for more info.
Presale/door prices adjusted: our events are set up by volunteers in favour of supporting DIY touring acts, but it is getting ever more risky to plan and book events – please support the community and buy your tickets early! Presale closes 18.00 on day of the show.
