Subbacultcha presents: Divide & Dissolve [Melbourne, Australia]
Divide and Dissolve‘s dense sound is overwhelmingly heavy; a dissonant pounding of percussion, guitars, piano, synths and saxophone, interwoven with passages of orchestral beauty.
Tickets for this event are €15 and can be purchased via subbacultcha.nl only!
Presale start: February 9 2026, 10:00AM :: https://subbacultcha.weticket.io/divide-and-dissolve
After many many years we welcome back performer and composer DAISY RAY @daisy.ray.4u with a solo affair of noise, screams and trembling bass. A show, a happening, a cabaret: joining the line-up before doom metal’s @divideanddissolve, this one will be for the books.
“Side effects occur when a bass guitar, on demand, is amplified and routed through an unsuitable pedal. A music box opens. Trains continue off-beat, in the wrong direction. Interventions remains ineffective.”
Those who have been adamant followers of Subbacultcha might know Daisy from the duo project Partners, which was one of our favorite Belgian projects. Daisy Ray’s music hovers between whimsical EDM, witty art-pop, and nursery rhyme-like storytelling. Once in a while described as cartoonish yet cerebral, her work channels a surreal, tongue-in-cheek spirit.
Divide and Dissolve’s Takiaya Reed is Black and Cherokee, focusing on Indigenous Sovereignty in her music. Divide and Dissolve has released two full length albums, Basic (2017) and Abomination (2018) through DERO Arcade before signing with Invada to release Divide and Dissolve‘s widely acclaimed third album Gas Lit in 2021, which was hailed Mary Anne Hobbs’ Album of the Year. A Gas Lit remix EP was released in 2021, including reworkings of Divide and Dissolve’s music by Moor Mother, Chelsea Wolfe and Bearcat. Divide and Dissolve toured throughout North America and Europe in 2022 supporting Low and playing Roskilde and Desert Daze Festivals. 2023 saw them performing headline dates and festivals in support of the recently released album Systemic, including Supersonic Festival and End of the Road. CVLT NATION coined Systemic as the Number 1 Doom Metal Album of the year… Towards the end of the year, the soundtrack Takiaya wrote and produced for fashion brand Miu Miu was unveiled on the runway for the s/s 2024 show. In 2024 Takiaya toured with Chelsea Wolfe across the USA in February and March. June featured an opening performance at the New York Sculpture Center. An extensive North American headline tour runs from September 2024 for 29 shows, capped off with a performance at the Venice Biennale in October and a performance at MASS MoCA in November.
