VIKENDICA RETURNS!
Vikendica is a nomadic festival-weekender for adventurous music, curated by Yugofuturism, connecting four iconic music venues in The Netherlands. From October 9-12, the venues Resistor (Leiden), VERA (Groningen), WORM (Rotterdam) and OCCii (Amsterdam) join hands in showcasing a convoi exceptionnel of new acts from Europe’s most vibrant underground scenes.
The first acts announced, performing on all four events are angular Polish post-punks Atol Atol Atol (PL), enigmatic Estonian indie quartet Avemaria (EE) and sonic solo adventurer Alienbaby Collective (NL/DE). On the Friday (VERA/Groningen) and Saturday (WORM/Rotterdam) events, chess-themed futurist Romanian duo K not K (formerly Karpov not Kasparov) join the festival. More acts to be announced, each night will be slightly different.
This is the third edition of Vikendica. Named after a colloquial Western Balkans term for a weekend home, the festival simultaneously celebrates the identity and ambience of smaller independent music venues. The previous edition opened in autonomous venue and community Stroomhuis in Eindhoven, which was lost in a devastating fire soon after, also highlighting the fragility of the independent ecosystem. Refuge for 2025 was found with Resistor in Leiden, the venue / community space inside Vrijplaats Leiden, a true paragon of DIY initiative and resilience.

VIKENDICA AT OCCII:
Atol Atol Atol is an island post-punk quartet from the thriving underground scene in Wroclaw, Poland. Their debut album “Koniec sosu tysiąca wysp (End of the Thousand Island Sauce)”, is an angular, overstimulated, rhythmically organised yet freedom-hungry punkoid in the spirit of no wave. Their new album is scheduled for autumn 2025.
Alienbaby Collective is the moniker of Berlin based guitarist and songwriter Liú Mottes. The project’s sonic identity is at once immersive and fragile — layering soft, understated vocals over restless sonic landscapes. The result is music that feels both expansive and deeply inward-looking, inviting listeners into a tangible space full of friction and tenderness.
Enigmatic Estonian quartet Avemaria is influenced by Siberian punk, fairytales, the worst day of your life and your favourite 2010s indie song, Music for people who like public transport, sitting in the sun and washing dishes at parties. Music that makes you want to do everything and do everything and do everything and do everything and do everything and do everything
Presale/door prices adjusted: our events are set up by volunteers in favour of supporting DIY touring acts, but it is getting ever more risky to plan and book events – please support the community and buy your tickets early!
