Hey everyone: The 11th of May is the day. OCCii is hosting the Book Your Own Fuckin’ Life Conference. Come join us and think about the future and the now of DIY-booking and venues.
During the day from 14:00 until 19:00 we want to talk about the following topics:
I. Subsidy vs DIY – how to deal with government support
II. Squatters cave or Hipster shed? What’s the OCCii identity? Determined by who?
III. Book Your Own Fucking Life – A venue as a network generator for your band and scene, does that still work?
IV. How much Facebook boost does a cultural free haven need? – How to promote a place that doesn’t fit?
After that we can eat something together at MKZ and join the concert that takes place at OCCii

In een stad die haarzelf doldraait met pop-up podia en life-style festivals doet de OCCII woeste pogingen een vrijplaats te zijn en blijven voor artistiek experiment, eigen initiatief en actie. Maar de tanden van de tijdgeest knagen ook aan de randen van het OCCII imperium;
I. subsidie vs DIY?
II. krakershol of hipsterhok?
III. Book Your Own Fucking Life – Een zaal als netwerkgenerator voor je band en scene, werkt dat nog?
IV.

In a city overflowing with lifestyle festivals and pop-up podia, OCCII tries hard to survive as a free space open for artistic experimentation, self-will and action. But the Zeitgeist is swirling around in OCCII too; volunteers stay shorter, organizers make shorter series. Solidarity, endeavor and dedication are the backbone of an independent music network and it’s important to know what’s happening in OCCII and other ‘stations’ of independent music of this underground cultural railway. Question marks have always been more preferred than exclamation marks so that’s why we want to call out to you, all people closely connected to OCCII:
Come join us and think about the future and the now of DIY-booking and venues.
