An interdisciplinary night of poetry and music: Kati Fado / Katarzyna Kowalewska with Luka Schuurman and band, ZEA / Arnold de Boer, AK Bouwman, Demi Joy, Julie Perrée, DJ duo Scratchman & Julian

After the COVID pause, the second edition of OCCII’s poetry bar will take place on Saturday 11 February, this time in collaboration with Geregeld Ontregeld. The second is always the best (although the third will prove the opposite), so get ready to get together on a Saturday night to listen to an adventurous array of words and music, poetry in language and in sound. We have a varied line-up ready for you, that will take you on a journey from Fryslan to Poland and beyond. Spoken in Dutch, English, Frysian and Polish.

ZEA / Arnold de Boer
Zea is Arnold de Boer: minimal, full-on, electric, acoustic, eclectic, strange-edge.

Deploying guitar and sampler for intense and high energy songs. Urgent lysrics in English and in Frisian (his first language). Sometimes intimate, heart felt, poetic, at other times driven on roughshod beats and grimy bass lines. Joyfully obstinate, wonderfully bonkers

Kati Fado / Katarzyna Kowalewska is a multiple award winning poet from Poland. Her poetry pictures emotions in the strongest of metaphors and sculpts in plastic ways our Earthly existence from metaphysical remembrances. She sketches extreme pain and pleasure, sometimes almost gothic, dreamlike, then the reality is there…and smacks you in the face. The words will go from mainly English to some of the original Polish lines and go together with improvisations of three outstanding musicians.

Demi Joy
Demi van den Wollenberg aka Demi Joy aka Halve Vreugde wants to offer comfort, acknowledgment and relevance with her words. Straight forward, to whomever feels they need to be heard. About internal conflict and external guilt. About the fight of being and how feelings are built. And a whole lot of other stuff that comes along

Julie Perrée
Julie Perrée is student Creative Writing. Ze schrijft verhalen over mensen die vooral zichzelf dwarszitten. Het lichaam is een belangrijk thema voor Julie’s werk: hoe verhoudt het lichaam zich tot de wereld waarin het leeft, de taal en de constant aanwezige gedachtestromen? Julie onderzoekt door te wandelen in het bos, te bewegen en geluid te maken. Verder schrijft ze liedjes, met een gitaar erbij, over de afstand tussen mensen, de draad kwijt zijn en supermarktverliefdheid.

AK Bouwman
Sommige mensen zeggen dat AK alleen een uitgenaste salonjonker zou zijn. Niets is minder waar. AK heeft zich ontwikkeld tot een deugdzame meesterspreker in de grootstedelijke underground. Hij is een BuurtKuifje van West, biograaf, radio- en tv-vermaker, voice-over, vrijblijvende dichter en spontane productiefilosoof binnen muzikale sciencefiction kringen en lokale actiegroepen. Gelukkig is dit in de laatste jaren allemaal steeds prominenter geworden.

DJ duo Scratchman & Julian
Scratchman and Julian will play some fine, but sometimes disturbing sounds before, between and after the performances.
